History & Background
Cbk Bookkeeping was launched in 2018 by our Founder Catherine Nugent. Small business has always been a part of Catherine’s life, with her family taking over management of their first business when she was just 3 years old.
Having experienced first-hand the challenges, trials, and stresses of being a small business owner growing up, Catherine could not help offering support to a couple of good friends when they started businesses in 2018. Whilst they were fantastic at what they did, they were either struggling to understand what the numbers were telling them about their business, or they could not consistently keep up with the bookwork on top of running a busy business and we're constantly unsure how they were doing financially.
Through referrals and recommendations, Cbk has steadily grown to a passionate team of three staff. The team at Cbk truly want to see their clients succeed and for them to enjoy the rewarding and lifestyle that can come with being a small business owner.

The Cbk team strive to support each other and their clients in building a lifestyle of their design. They look to create collaborative relationships, built on trust and believe that true empowerment comes from shared knowledge. In line with these values, they also support the Kiva initiative, loaning money regularly via Kiva to help fund small business ventures in developing countries.
Team Standards
We had been let down by bookkeepers who claimed that they were proficient in Quickbooks or Xero but we found the opposite was true when they started the processing. So we now use The Pure Bookkeeping Skills Assessment to test the applicant’s proficiency in Quickbooks or Xero and general bookkeeping skills. This must be completed successfully before they have an interview. That has helped enormously to weed out inexperienced candidates.
Once selected they complete The Pure Bookkeeping Training Module – an intensive theoretical and practical training in all aspects of The Pure Bookkeeping System before qualifying starting as one of our bookkeepers.
Our bookkeepers are required to fulfil four standards – Education, Experience, Testing & Training:

Minimum: Certificate IV Accounting & Bookkeeping
